While 2020 has presented more than its fair share of challenges, at RJC Dance we’ve also seen some real success. Since March this year when we launched RJC Dance Where U R, participants have spent more than 3,000 hours in front of our online classes. Thousands of people from around the world took part in over 120 free sessions. Best of all, you shared just how much RJC Dance Where U R helped you physically and emotionally through lockdown and beyond. Thank you for your company, your commitment, and your feedback - you all helped make RJC Dance Where U R a success.
With restrictions looking unlikely to lift any time soon, we’re still not ready to return to our home at the Mandela Centre (see our blog about staying online to stay safe). It’s time for us to reinvent RJC Dance Where U R, and we’re making it interactive. From now on, all our online sessions will be delivered via Zoom. This means Nillanthie can see how you’re doing, offer encouragement and give advice. The interactive sessions take the feeling of a group class to another level - you’ll also have the opportunity to speak to each other, in the virtual ‘room’, and give Nillanthie a thumbs up, a laugh, or even the odd grimace. We should also have fewer copyright issues with our music on Zoom too - hooray.
As many of you know, RJC Dance is a registered charity, and our funds are vital to bringing dance to all children, young people in our community and beyond. We can’t afford to continue offering our sessions for free, while at the same time losing income due to the pandemic from other streams. From today, all our online adult classes will be charged at £3 per session. You’ll need to book, right here on the website, and pay up front before 12 noon on the day of the class (or by 12 noon on Fridays for the Saturday morning Mash Up session). You’ll then receive a private link to the Zoom session before it starts.
Take a look at our online programme, and we look forward to seeing you on Zoom very soon!
