RJC Dance is always keen to support and inspire the next generation of dance talent in all aspects of the industry. We're thrilled to have welcomed Ella Atkinson and Roxanne Fraser to RJC Dance for their teaching placement across 5 weeks in March 2024.
Ella and Roxanne, who are currently in their second year on the BA (Hons) contemporary dance degree at Northern School of Contemporary Dance, worked with Shahck Out Juniors Tuesday.
“I have really enjoyed teaching Shahck Out Juniors Tuesday for 5 weeks. This experience I will remember and reflect on for when I am attending further teaching opportunities in the future.
Within these past 5 weeks, this experience has taught be to ‘go with the flow’, as a person I prefer structure through knowing exactly what the lesson will look like, however I have had to learn how to adapt lessons on the spot due to different factors, for example, the number of students attending, their energy levels, their attention spam etc. I have also learnt how to be stern but still fun, I have felt this skillset progress as I was afraid to tell the students to be quiet during our first placement session as I didn’t want them to think negatively of me however, through doing that I realised that the more focused they are, the class runs much for fluently and they are more interested in the lesson.”
