Spotlight on Avril – Joyous Steps to Raising Funds for RJC Dance

RJC Dance parent, volunteer and adult community class member, Avril Archilbald- Rose ran the Manchester Marathon this April to raise funds for RJC Dance.

“In September 2023 I signed up to run the Manchester Marathon to motivate myself in my fitness journey. I have always had a love/hate relationship with running. The journey was hard and isolating!

I eventually joined RJC Dance Adult Community Class in October 2023. Alongside running up to 35k per week, the class enabled me to cross and strength train whilst having fun with fabulous teacher, Nillanthie Morton, and enhanced by a fantastic group of ladies! I successfully and proudly ran my first 20 miles on 13th March and decided to attempt to raise money for a local charity that has become dear to me!

That charity you may have guessed is RJC Dance.

Why?

My daughter attends the Youth Provision and has attend RJC Dance Inner North East Community Committee Holiday Dance Camps for several years. I volunteered at RJC Dance 30 th Anniversary Carnival and since attending the adult community class, I have found my passion once again for dance!!

RJC Dance is a vibe, always encouraging and inspiring!

On 14th April 2024, I expected to complete the Manchester Marathon in 5 & a half to 6 hours but managed to cross the finish line, with a big smile, in 4 hours 51 minutes and 27 seconds – a personal best!

I raised £450 for this amazing charity!

As the saying goes, ‘If you believe, you can achieve’, and ‘If I can do it, so can you’. The world is limitless with the right attitude!”

A huge thank you to Avril from team RJC Dance for her support and contribution towards empowering young people, adults and elders through dance, movement and exercise.

Avril’s generous donation will go towards supporting Shahck Out Youth Dance attend the U. Dance National Festival this Summer in Liverpool.
