RJC Dance is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2018

Join RJC Dance in celebrating 25 years! We have lined up an exciting not to be missed programme of events for this prestigious milestone. Our anniversary events culminate in a 2-day showstopper Christmas Show on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th December 2018 at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Riley Theatre, highlighting RJC Dance’s vibrant and diverse culture. Join us on Facebook and Twitter to stay informed on upcoming events.

Founded in 1993, RJC Dance is a leading inclusive voluntary dance organisation in the North with youth development and education at the heart of our work. As the company in residence at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, RJC Dance toured nationally & internationally during the 1990's and in the year 2000 began to focus work towards young people and the development of RJC Dance Youth Provision. The organisation relocated to the Mandela Centre in Leeds in 2004.

RJC Dance is gifted in engaging young people between the ages of 4-19 years from all backgrounds and circumstances representing the diversity of our community and our nation. The organisation has a strong desire to offer young people an authenticity that focuses on how dance can unlock their potential, their creativity and style rather than limiting their dance experience to the perfection of technique.
Over 200 boys and girls now attend weekly dance sessions. We offer performance and residential experiences as part of personal development for members, which can lead to accredited pieces of work via Arts Award and Sports Leaders awards.

RJC Dance commitment to developing and promoting a Black British choreographic language is evident in its title: R, which stands for Reggae, J for Jazz and C for the Contemporary/Carnival dance influence. These dance styles form the backbone of the organisation's innovative performance work.
