Capital funding success

RJC Dance is proud to announce the success of our bid to the Arts Council's Capital funding programme to refurbish and upgrade RJC Dance studio and office facilities at the Mandela Centre, Chapeltown, Leeds.

Kathy Williams, Director of RJC Dance said

"We are delighted; with this additional investment and support the ambition is to increase the capacity and usage of RJC Dance Studio at the Mandela Centre as a high quality dance environment for young people, the surrounding community, the professional dance sector, educational and community organisations in the city. RJC Dance will be working in partnership with Leeds City Council and the professional dance sector in the city contributing to the aim of becoming the first UNESCO City of Dance. This is amazing news and will have an immediate and positive impact on local young people and the wider community."
Michelle Dickson, Director North, Arts Council England said, "I am very pleased that RJC Dance has been awarded Capital funding to refurbish its studio and offices. The organisation's work with young people and in education is important, and this redevelopment will support the company to do even more with local participants and the dance sector. It also supports our shared aspirations to strengthen provision for dance in Leeds, making the city a true hub for dance."
